Throw Verbal Stones

They come in many forms
Some in texts
Others in emails
probably in voicemail too

A Dis is An Insult, a disparaging remark/act.  Dis is slang for disrespect.  Along with being dissed, i feel slightly harassed by unreasonable thinking and irrational reasoning.  Theirin lies the craziness of logic!?  Accused!  I.?  Of What?  Made from paper...?!  Walking and talking...???  If I don't speak, what then?  Is it assumed (or implied) there is a walk to come?
I'm quiet, therefore...you won't hear me say much...
But I will do what I set out to do
Don't put words in my mouth
and never assume
that you know what my intentions are

Let Me Honor this July 4th as the beginning of National Friendship Week

One day, when I was a freshman in high school,

I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.
His name was Kyle.

It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?

He must really be a nerd.'

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.

They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.

His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him...

He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes .

My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks.'

They really should get lives.

' He looked at me and said, 'Hey thanks!'

There was a big smile on his face.

It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.

As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.

He said he had gone to private school before now.

I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.

He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.

I asked him if he wanted to play a little football
with my friends .

He said yes.

We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.

I stopped him and said, 'Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!

' He just laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next 4four4 years, Kyle and I became best friends.

When we were seniors we began to think about college.

Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke.

I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never
be a problem.

He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship.

Kyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak .

Graduation day, I saw Kyle.

He looked great.

He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.

He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.

Boy, sometimes I was jealous!

Today was one of those days.

I could see that he was nervous about his speech.

So, I smacked him on the back and said, 'Hey, big guy, you'll be great!'

He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled....

' Thanks,' he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began ...

'Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends....

I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
I am going to tell you a story.'

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the first day we met.

He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.

He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.

He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.

'Thankfully, I was saved.

My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable.'

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.

I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.

Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.

Never underestimate the power of your actions.

With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

For better or for worse.
God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way.

Look for God in others.

'Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.'

There is no beginning or end.. Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

Please be Responsible Today

On this day that celebrates the liberation of 13thirteen13 Colonies from their Mother Land...please remember to be a responsible individual.  The drive for liberty centered around the unjust feeling of taxation amongst the hard working settlers within the Colonies.  Those same Colonies could have very easily have been apart of the French Empire...
Je Parle Français?
Had England Lost the War of the Americas, History on this planet would be drastically different...maybe this incident with Dominique Strauss Khan may not be A BIG deal as us uptight Americans perceive this act of debauchery and deviant activity.  I am not endorsing DSK, nor am I aiming for a public lynching...do those still exist?  Where does Humanity Stand?
Just remember, and be respectful to yourself and each other...whether you speak English or French...just be good to yourself and everyone else!

How Random is Chance?

On a lighter, much more pleasant note...let me bow and introduce a new fan to my literary tales of philosophical outlooks on personal conduct (with the various human interactions one faces on a daily basis)...also the over embellishment of random activities and odd events...how about the various health tips and strategies I may bring to your attention...or just simply, the acknowledgement of the ongoing silliness we all seem to take way too seriously that we call life!  My entries rarely repeat in topic or format, what you read is the embodiment of my mood...and the words you see are indicative of my seemingly erratic (sometimes illogical) yet focused thoughts representative of a roller coaster ride of reason.  I share a small piece of my soul with the five5000 thousand or so individuals that have poked their eyes into my world across this globe we all call home...a readership following that spans thirty37seven countries (and counting)!
It was happenstance...Joe hates the country corner.  I, on the other hand have always enjoyed it.  I love the shrouded mystery of the random introduction to the varied population of individuals that wonder in there at any given moment...as I have said before, i hold no prejudice in my spirit (so I truly welcome all).  When I was younger, I enjoyed the chess matches I played in the taverns darkened corners...sometimes I won, other times I didn't; but I always played a good game.  The best little treasure found there is the authentic Armenian cuisine the old man makes in the back...love his piyaz!
There are many reasons why I enjoy this hole in the wall...peacefully tucked away in a historic corner in a town known as Setauket within my home state of  NY.  Last night my instinct drew me there.  No rhyme, no reason...I just knew I needed to make a stop (albeit staying no longer then the pace of downing a beer...I chose Magic Hat #9).  As I approached this beaten down pub, my eye line barely peered over the window sill that covers the length of the bar.  I caught a fleeting glance of a seemingly attractive Blonde causally sitting all by herself facing a brunette bartender.  The steps leading me up to the doorway came quickly, i reached for the door and turned the knob (it felt old yet sturdy within my clasp).  She may seem lonesome and lovely, yet she was the first within eyesight to turn and look at us.  Her smile greets us exuding a welcoming vibe...almost as if to say with her eyes, you finally made it.  Her hair is slightly feathered and long in various tones of light blonde...a bit Farrah Fawcet-like.  She is slender and stunning.  Yet her big crystalline blue eyes was her first strikingly beautiful feature that quieted any sort of unnecessary criticism that people seem to use in assessing attractiveness.  Her smile sparkled with a delicate lusciousness magnifying her exquisite beauty enhanced by her deep bright blue engaging gaze, through those alluring eyes she would tame a wild jungle.  Her charm and humor only added to her appeal.  A sublime small stud sits sparking over her right nostril.  She shares her fries with me...I love steak fries, but i dare not accept.  Her name is Casey and loved the fact that my Americanized version of a name reminds her of her Hollywood crush, a one Dean Winchester...hunting supernatural spirits and demons that haunt the living...Perhaps I share more then a name with this character.  My beer is done, its time to veer onto another path...yet before I embark I do share a little something with this beauty...Enjoy your entry Ms Casey, it was my complete pleasure to make your acquaintance.

As if no one would notice, hush-hush under the solemn evening sky, NIKE quietly rewards a Man who does not deserve of any such sort prized trophy...shame on them for their sharing of such a momentous lucrative treasure with a falsely idolized Man who for sear entertainment led to the slaughtering of countless harmless animals (what is worse is that he did reap the benefit of bundled riches$$ during this macabre massacre of innocence)...Yet, when they thought no one was looking, they extend into their pockets to share their bottomle$$ spoils with this man!!!!  His Name Is Michael Vick, and he was convicted for running a dog fighting ring...NIKE has chosen to reward him again with a "new" endorsement deal worth more money then what most people on this planet will earn in their lifetime.  Am I the only one who sees fault with this?  I am but ONE1ONE Man, but I can share my words with the world and only hope that some may heed my thoughts and support this cause...
You Buy NIKE, you support this man who murdered animals and has shown no remorse for his past transgressions...
I will do my due diligence and never again buy a NIKE product...
I ask the same from anyone who feels the same as I do
As far as I'm concerned, I will burn anything I own with the NIKE logo
Feel Free to do the same

Communicate with those that Frustrate you the Most

For those of us who believe that introverts are shy and extraverts are outgoing...and there are many...We are Wrong!  Introverts and extraverts differ in how they process information.  Introverts generate their energy from within, where as the extravert gains their momentum from group settings.  Shyness can exist in either of the two types, as can outgoing personalities.  Truth be told, each one of us hold components of both.
Introverts have a preference to spend their time alone or within very small groups (I should know, I am an introvert)...and we tend to gather our thoughts carefully before we speak (we do have a method to our madness...a very quiet one, it could and does seem to get lost in translation!).  Extroverts mistake us for awkward types....they act as if we withhold information (as if we are intentionally attempting to thwart our own plans?)...we very often get mistaken for being cold and distant, unable to convey any emotional connection in order to bridge some sort of understanding.  Ask us what you want to know, we do share answers!
Extraverts appear to LOVE to Talk, talk, talk and talk some more...they think out loud, gibbering away almost as if they are processing their thoughts/information right before our eyes.  These people talk way too fast, way too much...and almost always seem to be way tooooo LLLOOOOUUUDDDD!!!!!   Just, please, STOP!~ for a moments, Please STOP.  Wait.  Hold your thought for just one second.
Interesting fact about brain imaging between introverts and extraverts.  An introverts brain observed during imaging clearly shows more activity in response to external stimuli...think of a very loud fire alarm drill when an introvert is processing information from their environment (understandingly why they may seek to limit the amount of incoming information).  Where as the extraverts brain imaging during stimulation exhibits more activity in areas centered around pleasure-seeking zones....meaning they receive pleasure/reward in social interaction settings, hence why they are 'driven' to be in groups and involved in active situations.
HHHHHMMMMMM>>>?????
....what comes next?
The introvert needs to learn to speak up, while an extravert needs to slow down (when the two types are attempting to communicate with each other).  Remember its better to be understanding, then to be understood!
