Focus

Wisdom first comes from A thirst...that never quite feels quenched...
Somewhat of a search...
For?
Survivors? Prisoners? Souvenirs? Directions? A recipe?
If I find it first, I will let you know.
If you find it first, it would be nice of you to share.

Dance to my Beat...and I will play the Drums

I try to see, inspite of the darkness around...
I try to listen within a muted world
I reach to grab...but only find air
Life has a scent...so I sniff...what is this stench?
One thing is for certain...the undeniable taste life brings us all...

So, pull a chair...and take a seat
Class is in session...the Professor is in the room
No doom
No gloom

Just desire
To see, hear, touch, smell and taste
Knowledge

Hungry?
Yet, never satisfied!

Who am I?

The simple answer is Konstantine.
Just another face on the subway.
Some guy on the check out line in the grocery store.
I like watching sports, without revolving my entire itinerary around their scheduling.
I drink red wine...not only because I love the taste, but because I love the atmosphere of companionship it can harbor.
I drive fast, real fast...can't help it, my brain works at a rate that seems comparatively accelerated to the world around me.  My friends joke that I live in 'The Matrix'...if you ever see my reflexes, you just may believe them.
I make friends real easily.  Anywhere I go.  No matter what it is that I am doing...people want me to be their friend...and I am completely cool with that!
I always get looks and comments
"I know you" or "I have seen you before"
Maybe they are right...and I just forgot.
Maybe they thought I was someone that they once met...
Either way, hello!
I am so Introverted, that I get marginally upset when I hear my cell jingle.  But, the funny thing is...they are a few rare people that I want to hear from constantly, no matter what I am doing.
I feel strong when I lift heavy things...I feel weak with how fragile I can feel by when someone acts inappropriate to me.
I wish that common sense was the norm.  With decency being its backbone.
I wish that people are respectful of one another.  Common courtesy.
I wish that the community understands what a symbiotic human relationship is.
I wish we treat each other to the best of our abilities...all the time.
I wish that Kathryn wouldn't hate me...I wish that Kathryn knew how to love herself.
I understand how we are all born, in the Here and Now,
With opportunities to grow and express ourselves...
Yet, I observe too many people Stuck In THEIR Box...
Do they know, that the Box only exists by design of their own creation?
and they get upset when I refuse to limit my thinking inside that square...or rectangle...or what ever shape it is that they see...
Religion is good...spirituality is better...
But neither matter, if we don't treat each other better.

An Article on Metabolism

"How long does it take for the food I ate to add weight to my body?" --
Bunter122

Today's question comes from a reader who would prefer to stay
anonymous, but it is certainly a thought that many people have had.
Given that we all have different metabolic speeds, what is the average
amount of time it takes food to be digested and then shunted off to its
various purposes?

"We have a pretty good indication about the timeline from the sequence
of ingestion, digestion, and egestion. The whole thing plays out over a
span of roughly 12 hours on average," says Dr. David Katz, a HuffPost
Healthy Living contributor and director of the Yale University
Prevention Research Center. "By the time the residual waste of food is
passing out of us, the useable parts have all been put to use -- for
energy expenditure, as heat generation, or placed into storage, as
either glycogen [from carbohydrate], or fat."

After you eat, the food passes through your stomach and small intestine
in about six to eight hours, according to the Mayo Clinic. Then, it
enters the large intestine where it is further digested. Putting it as
delicately as possible, Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist Dr. Michael F.
Picco writes: "Elimination of undigested food residue through the large
intestine usually begins after a total of 24 hours. Complete
elimination from the body may take several days."

For a complete understanding of what the body does to digest food, the
National Institutes of Health has a great explainer. For our purposes,
it is essential to understand that as food is digested, enzymes and
hormones are secreted by the stomach and small intestines (as well as
fat cells) and work to break down the carbohydrates, protein and fat
we've eaten into usable material for our cells.

A growing number of endocrinologists -- those who study our hormone
system -- are beginning to see the hormone response as far more
complicated than previously thought, as well as far more
individualized: there is a wider variance in how people respond to
food, they suspect.

"While the question posed seems extraordinarily simple, I don't think
that there can be a simple answer to it," says Dr. Kaveh Ashrafi, an
associate professor of physiology at the University of California, San
Francisco School of Medicine who studies fat metabolism. "The
prevailing view essentially considers feeding behavior/exercise as the
sole determinants of body weight. For this to be true, one has to
assume that the body itself is simply an inert vessel; if you put more
food in it, it must get fat, if you move it, it must lose weight."

Ashrafi offers this analogy in communication with HuffPost Healthy
Living:

If one lives in a shack with broken windows, no insulation, and a
caved-in roof, changes in the temperature outside correlate fairly well
with changes in the temperature inside of the shack. However, if one
lives in a modern home, with wonderful walls, windows, roof, and a
sophisticated heating/cooling system, the relationship between the
outside and inside temperate becomes much more difficult to guess
easily. If the thermostat is set at 70°C, it can be -20 or +120 outside
yet inside will be around 70. Bodyweight regulation is much more like
the temperature regulation of the modern house than that of the shack
-- the prevailing view, in my opinion, treats it as if it were a shack.
So while it is easy to say how long it takes for your body to digest
food, it is very difficult to answer the question, how quickly does it
add weight to my body? That's a very individual phenomenon, based not
only on the make-up of someone's diet, but on their unique hormonal and
physiologic response.

Friends are the fountain that we drink from...that help us refresh and refocus.
Friends are the bank that we withdraw love from...love that grows with interest

Happy Birthday KA

and may you have many more
:-)

P.s.
Leo women are the best!

It the small things in life...

Sunday Morning,
No reason to be up early...
The morning sky lights up with an Orange tint...
Meet my cat CC...he gets frisky in this early.
He leaps onto my bed, finds my feet...and the playful nibbles start.
His teeth are sharp, and he is very much unaware of the pain he is sharing...I know he loves, and that's why he is playing.
I am awake now, and I smile at him.
He greets me with a body rub. His fur always seems to feel fluffy and clean...always soft.

I am walking about now, sipping my water...I feel so thirsty...the cool drizzle running down my throat quenches my desire...I smile from the gratification.
...so thirsty...
My Saturday night ended sometime after Twelve...late, but I have had later.
The friendly bartender last night serving me looked like Justin Timberlake. His co-worker, an extremely beautiful and curvy blonde with gorgeous blue eyes and a wickedly becoming smile...she seemed to find constant reasons why she needed to come out from behind the bar and walk past me...on occasion she got close enough to brush up against me. She shyly would smirk at me, catching my attention of course as she would guiltily glance away...I always kept my gaze on her and always smiled back...it would make her blush. I feel she was attracted to me for the fact I was this towering presence...she must like her men tall, fit and strong...

I dropped my friend home just before midnight. He thanked me for coming to see him...he felt good going out, first time since his accident a few weeks back. He shook my hand, I smiled back. I drove home...really fast in some Mini Cooper...I always drive fast...I took a ninety degree turn last night at an estimated speed of over 40 miles per hour. Flawless precision with deathly accurate maneuverability...I smiled as I successfully made that turn without crashing or driving off of the road...

I reach home, CC was in the window waiting up for me...I smiled at him...I know he sees my smile.
I entered my house, there he was finagling in between my feet...
How did I become so lucky!!!

I smiled yet again, almost for no reason at all...
It made start to chuckle...
By my feet, I hear a soft and gentle meow

Bologna...?

Fear not my dear,
Learn to love yourself,
Feel what self respect empowers...
Best of all,
I hope you get lucky enough to find good people around you...
That will become the easiest and quickest way to re-instill faith in humanity.

I find that one really good person close to me can undo hundreds of assholes that surround us all...
Believe in yourself!
Believe that things will workout...
It's starts with you...

Respectfully,
K

Love is...?

Love is not a measure of "something"
but rather a journey...
In a destination we pursuit throughout our entire lives
Love has many facets
It can relentlessly grip
or it can casually flick
It rarely has logic
Nor any rhyme or reason
It never forgives
and it never satisfies....
Instead, it constantly keeps us wanting more...
and typically it's of things
That seem just out of our reach...

So, we grab
And beg...pleading
and always thinking
Hoping
That it's out there for us...

But we all,
At one point or another
Make this one fatal mistake.
We rarely realize
It starts from in
and we spread it out...

"There comes a point...

In Life...where
You either...
Accept whatever it is that you do
and Exist...
or
Stop Talking about...
what you used to be
and
Invent something completely new"

Nothing,

In life will ever paralyze me with fear...

Nothing,
In life woud ever deter me from persevering...

Nothing,
In life will ever cause me to quit
On who and what I believe in...

Nothing,
In life will ever stop my sense and desire of
Wonder
Growth
and
Love

A day in my life

It's ridiculous the amount of Nonsense I can and will create out of the uniquely insignificant and utterly mundane...
To whom I choose to share this over-exaggerated sensationalize bizarreness is all the more comical...
Wednesday afternoon, I am feeling a bit ornery and very much ignored...my cell phone jingles. I have a Text Message from Kris Anne. It states that she has an out of town guest visiting, what vineyard recommendations do I have....?
Well my dear, there are approximately Forty45Five of them out East...hardly a Pick'Em type of situation. So..."I volunteer My service to personally guide and navigate through such interesting territory....Yes?"
(I haven't been a tour guide of sorts since that married European guy a year and a half ago was visiting my married Aunt...whom the two apparently were more then Just an acquaintance...I don't care, nor am I judging them...I was just his guide)
Me, the Chaperone...
I certainly like the ring of that.

No response...
Meaning
"No!"
or
"I'll think about it"
who knows maybe it was an non-responsive "Yes"...
Nonetheless, not even a cricket sound...

This morning, two days later..it hits me like a ton of bricks...

How To Make an Impression on an Out Of Towner 101
P.s. I will insist That we take photos everywhere we go!!!

Kris....please, let me entertain your friend....? Pretty please? This is my plan

Our Itinerary.

Early Afternoon drive out to Plesser's Appliance store in Babylon and introduce the out of town lad to Nipper the Dog. Nipper is a town favorite who sits by the front door and greets all the customers. He is over Six Feet Tall and made from Fiberglass.

East on Montauk Highway to Bayport...there we find The Sphinx (a Long Island Landmark since 1911). Engraved at the base
"She who climbs the Sphinx's head, A millionaire she will surely wed."
The signpost in front of the Sphinx read "Climbing is prohibited"
Such conflicting information...what shall I do?
Insist Lad climbs the Sphinx!

We reach Riverhead in no time...there we find the Riverhead Raceway (yes rednecks and hicks do exist on Long Island....as if you can dispute it with this list?!). Miller Place...home to the Pirate House (personally my favorite Long Island attraction). There isn't a blade of grass visible on this man's lawn. I don't believe that....

Poor efforts often find undesired fortunes

I don't believe in...
Having A Soul Mate

some even
Work great together

Adversely affect each other
Nonetheless, what I do know

That is still takes two people
Communicating

Working Together
For anything to Work

Why?

I believe in...
Giving Chances
First, second, thirds and fourths....
More if need be,
Because I know, I don't always get things right the first time

I believe in...
Trusting people that love me
and
Loving people that trust me
But, both come with cautions
Since we can't always get things right
Even if we mean the best
and
Hold the truest of intentions

I believe in...
Forgiving!!!
No matter how wrong
I must deal with the forward progress we call life...
And it Starts with forgiveness!
The key that keeps the engine moving forward...

I believe in...
Helping...!
Everyone I can
Whenever I can
However I can
Wherever possible
Whatever it is with
....
Because,
It's the right thing to do
Remember, even we need help sometimes
It would be nice to randomly feel helped out!

I believe in...
We are all here
To learn how to
Peacefully,
Resourcefully
and
Creatively
Coexist

Problem with Sex after 50

We know the excuses: Who has the time? I'm exhausted after working all day. I'll try again next week.

No, we're not talking about exercising (though you really should hit the gym for health and longevity sake). We're talking about sex.

Although sexual activity does decline in midlife, as illness and other factors can interfere with sexual health, a 2007 study by the New England Journal of Medicine found 73 percent of people age 57 to 64 were sexually active. More than half of 65-to-74-year olds and 26 percent of 75-to-85 year olds had an intimate relationship in the year prior to the survey.

"As boomers are getting older, they are less likely to accept that they are supposed to be sexless," said Dr. Janice Epp of the Institute of Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. "A lot of research is finding people are saying, ‘Nuh uh!'"

“I think one of the most common myths is that people stop having sex as they get older,” agreed Patty Brisben, the founder and chairwoman of Pure Romance, a company that specializes in selling sex toys and providing information on women's sexual health issues. “More often than not, sex over 50 is still something couples are interested in. They may just need the green light to start exploring again.”

There are several key factors that can make a couple to feel sexually stalled, Dr. Epp said. The first is a natural decline in energy levels, Epp said. "When you’re in your 20s you still have a lot of energy at 11 p.m., which is not necessarily true when you’re in your 70s."

The second is cultural: "When one hits a certain age, society tells us we’re no longer sexually attractive," Epp said, noting this is especially true for women. And not feeling sexy doesn't quite make you want to take a flying leap into the sack. "We need to understand that it’s OK to find pleasure in the bedroom in whatever way suits us best, no matter what stage of our lives we’re in," she added.

Finally, sex can become routine. "Like anything, the same sex with the same person can become boring," Epp told Huff/Post50. "The first 400 gazillion times it’s exciting, but after a while it gets to be routine."

A Flower

A flower doesn't stop being beautiful just because somebody walks by without noticing it, nor does it cease to be fragrant if its scent is taken for granted. The flower just continues to be its glorious self: elegant, graceful, and magnificent.

Our Mother Nature has provided us with these immeasurably valuable teachers that blossom despite their short lifespan, stars that continue to shine even if we fail to stare at them, and trees that don't take it personally if we never bow down in gratitude for the oxygen they provide.

We also have an incredible and unlimited capacity to love, but the question is: can we do it like a flower? Without needing to be admired, adored, or even noticed? Can we open our hearts completely to give, forgive, celebrate, and joyfully live our lives without hesitation or need for reciprocity?

It seems like sometimes we go beyond taking things personally and are noticeably deflated when unappreciated. In-fact, devastated, we wilt in sorrow and then attempt to guard ourselves by withholding, using all sorts of protections and defenses. We get hurt (even angry), if our boss fails to recognize an astonishing feat, if a lover pulls their hand away, or when a friend forgets our birthday. Can you imagine a flower copping an attitude for not being praised, or the moon dimming its glow because we're too self-absorbed to notice it more often?

Make an effort to shine no matter what, to love unconditionally, and to be a kind and gentle soul (even when nobody is watching). And, if you're so inclined, hug the next tree you see and say, "Thank you!"

Why is Laughter good for the Soul?

I make IT my daily mission...it's my god given right...to take out the needless seriousness of the everyday mundane...
And create an atmosphere of fun and joy...
By being
Silly
Ridiculous
Absurd
yet...
Clever
Fun
Cute
and
Charming

No matter how serious you are...anyone and everyone walks that line of laughter with me...if they allow themselves too...
Sometimes, as you have said...
It started with a devilish smile :-)

And I know when a know-it-all has me all wrong...they will call me pedantic and serious!!!
Boooo whoooo
Them!
It's their loss...that they don't know me!

IFearlesslyExpressMyself!!!

Once in a blue, I'll get an urge...an urge like none other. I'll sport a trendy look, let my locks wildly flow...I'll emerge from my cave and entertain a world farmed with monotony and repetition...yet at times stuck on nostalgia and retreads....
Anything outside that norm...is often said to be inappropriate or odd.

I say, inappropriate or odd should refer to individuals that go around harming their peers (physically, spiritually or emotionally).

Very few people on here talk to me...
But one thing is for sure...
I am who I am
Whether
Here
or
There
....
as a matter of fact...
Anywhere!!!

I am just the same, in your face polite type of guy
and I never make any
Excuses
or
Apologies

and if we are on the same team...then I am glad to have a teammate!

Replaceable?

Everything in life is unique and to a degree be substituted for...
Never exact, and never the same
Nonetheless, certainly replaced
...
Some replacements will be upgrades
While others, downgrades
Satisfaction may soar or may wane

This I know for fact...just when I think...I would swear to know
That someone is irreplaceable...
Not only do I find a replacement...I then wonder,
"What the heck took me so long to change it/this/them"
"My God"
Long over due!!!

Perfect you say? I say Immaculate!

Funny how fate and destiny work...

The very moment my eyes saw you I felt my chest swell as my heart uncontrollably raced...feverishly thumping and pounding.  My breathing became heavy and rapid.  My hands quivered, my mind stumbled...I swore that a bronze Goddess stared back at me.  Her head slightly tilted to the right with her hand just beneath her chin...seductively brushing her blonde mane aside.  An image forever etched in my mind.
A growl from the pit of my stomache slowly grumbles, as my unsatiated appetite beckons to be fed nothing but the best...
My darling Goddess...not in a million years did I think at any point of my day (or any for that matter) would I find myself face to face with you here.  Like I told you, funny how fate and destiny work!
Respectfully,

How to fix a problem?

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just
pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
for re-election.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)
took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple!
The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail,
cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year
or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to
a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask
each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will
have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed
around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2012

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive
the message. Don't you think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

All Men, Women and Children are created equal...personal endeavors heighten personal success

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other."
-John Adams, 2nd president of the United States

Is Love Blind?

I would be more apt to consider love to be...
Unreasonable,
Illogical,
Uncalculated...
But also very
Comforting!
With the potential danger to be misleading.

There are no rules!
There are no prisoners!
There is no rational either...

To call Love blind almost insinuates that
It still hears,
Perhaps the heart does?
That it must still smell,
Perhaps the passion it stirs?
It must touch,
More then likely the soul?
Taste...what?
Euphoria!

Nonetheless,
Still without rhyme or reason...and never with logical!

According to the Wisdom of Bruce

Defeat is a state...of One's Mind,
A perception...Of a situation,
A residual from past or ongoing events...
No One is ever truly defeated,
unless
One accepts defeat
As their destiny...as their state of Reality.

Never give up!

Do we affect one another?

Even if I could stop this planet from spinning...
Even if I could stop us from cycling around our star...
If I could stop our universe from expanding...

I still would not stop change...

Does your heart cry?

My heart is too proud to cry...
My heart can't tear when it's so dry...
Muted from experience...isolated by distance...

Did you know that
Lonesomeness
Breeds
Company...?

Four chambers...Rythmically beating...
Fist by fist
Thump by thump
One Pump
One thought
One crawl...

If my heart could form a cry...
It would snarl
And tell you to beware

What is Harmony?

Flaws...or imperfections are the subtle beauties that personally define each and every one of us. Without them...we would all be assembly line quality...Yuck!
Flaws are perfectly beautiful.

Why are Lies so Transparent?

I find that liars always seem to lie...just about on everything.
I find that honest people want to believe, and trust...and hope for good outcomes.
When liars find honest folk...trouble brews, because an honest person wants to find reasons to believe a liar's lie...
It behooves you to question with doubt. To make judgements based on substance. Trusting no one is safe, yet a lonely existance. A gift in life is finding someone to trust who has your better interests at heart.
