Why don't we have the right to fire ineffective politicians?

Why?

Politicians are public servants, intended to collectively voice the group of voters within their jurisdiction.

The public deserves the right to oust ineffective and greedy politicians.

Brilliant?  Maybe not.
But who would be left?

Not many, not many at all....but at least knowing that there are consequences associated with office failures, perhaps that's a step in the right direction in weeding out some of the political shenanigans.

Isn't an election intended to circumvent placing ineffective politicians in office?

Elections can be bought and skewed.  But that's not what I am referencing here.  Once in a political office, what stops one from abusing that privilege?  Aren't they for the duration of their term (for the most part) protected?  Under egregious conditions, how do these corrupters get faulted?

Why aren't more politicians subjected to a recall elections (which do apply in most jurisdictions)?
A little Tar and some Feathers look real appetizing on the vast majority of our elected officials.
