Even though I have been read in Peru, I do not believe that Lori has been one of my readers...if I am wrong Lori, please let me know. Nonetheless, Peru is home to not only Lori (for at least the moment)...but also one of the most magical sites on Our Planet Earth. Machu Picchu...a city carved from stone that is over six hundred years old and sits high up in the sky...Eight8000Thousand feet above sea level, concealed by doors only clouds could create...Major reason why the Spaniards (who were at the time looking to Conquer the world), had a very grueling time finding the Incas up on the Heavens. For any Historian Buffs out there, Machu Picchu was originally constructed as an Estate for Inca emperor Pachacuti.
Certainly a mystical era in Human History...Kathryn did mention to me that she wasn't too fond of her trip there some Nine Years ago with Kerr...just for the record, Kerr almost had his own little stint of incarceration (i believe) down in Peru (it could have been a neighboring country).

Now that my side tangent is done with...

Coming back to Lori!
This young upscale Manhattanite was convicted in Peru as a collaborator for an Internal Terrorist group known as MRTA. In her "American" life she was an MIT student and participated in several community service activities domestically and internationally...she was the pride and joy of her family. Upon graduating from MIT, she returned to some of her international volunteer roots in El Salvador...she sought excitement and purpose in her life. She became a translator for a Liberation leader in El Salvador (this Man was known to do whatever he had too to be heard). Once her El Salvadorian life ran its course, Ms Bereson moved to Peru.
This is where her Young life began to change forever...
She met a man who smoozed her...she fell for him...maybe even if her common sense told her not too. He asked her to rent a house for he and his friends...she did, using Capital from a trust fund established by her parents for her "education". Her sense of adventure got the better of her when she got a hold of some Press Credentials and began interviewing members of the Peruvian Congress with her photographer. Shortly thereafter, the "secret" police of Peru arrested Lori and her photographer (who turned out to be the spouse of the leader for MRTA). How do you like those apples...and it gets better. Upon raiding the home that Lori rented for her "boyfriend" and his "buddies"...plans for terroristic acts and destructive weapons were discovered. This is not looking good Lori. Lori swore that she didn't live at "that" house...then don't put your name on the lease Lori! The photographer was just some woman she knew...choose your friends wiser my dear. Whats going on here Lori?
She was unanimously convicted and sentenced to twenty years in jail...a sense of adventure brought Lori to this door and ignorance got her the sentence once she walked through.
Every road has its chance divisions that cast doubt upon our journeys...even though our intentions may be pure and we may be under the impression that our choices selected are the best/wisest/safest most viable options available...we still have residuals, Good or Bad, from our decisions that need to teach us through experience in order to fully learn what the lesson is. Some lessons are fun, while others...well, not so much. Nonetheless...this is the necessary walk we all need to make each and every day.

Currently, Lori as a year ago has been out on parole and will be for the next four years...she is not allowed to leave Peru until she satisfies her twenty year sentence. If I were Lori, i would take full advantage of my undesirable predicament and visit Machu Picchu each and every day and think of what I will do instead of harping on what has already happened or of what I have already done...just a thought Lori...live life for the now into the tomorrow, and enjoy each breathe along the way.

Just as an aside, do you think that Amanda Knox will ever vacation in Italy?
